We think of fitness as a lifestyle choice. It’s something that keeps us regularly active, something we can use to help aid us in life, fitness and sport. We preach mobility, stability, strength, power and skill. We coach functional movements, sports performance training, Olympic weightlifting, and strength and power. Above all our CrossFit gym is a place to let loose and have some fun!

Rose City Barbell CrossFit WASQ is much more than a group of strangers looking to get fit. It is a community offering support and inspiration to achieve the highest levels of fitness that you desire. Friendship, support, challenges, and inspiration will be on display daily from the staff and clients. RCB fitness is part of an everyday healthy lifestyle. This is not just a stop off before or after work. A personal training or group workout session at Rose City Barbell CrossFit WASQ is a planned event. Members who train here enjoy challenging themselves and being challenged by others. Most of all, they love training with people who have the same mindset, believing that motivation is temporary and inspiration lasts forever. Rose City Barbell Home of CrossFit WASQ offer’s programming brought to you by CompTrain! We currently follow the CompTrain Class programming via CompTrain.co. The great thing about CrossFit is that everything is scalable. No matter your current fitness level, our specialized team of coaches is uniquely qualified to scale each workout according to your desired goals/abilities. That means, if you see a workout i.e “WOD” on the board for the day that you aren’t sure about or don’t think you can do, just reach out to your coach. If there is not already a scaled option on the board, our coach will scale the WOD for you! This is all part of your fitness journey! and all we ask of you is to show up, try your best, and above all have fun!

CompTrain Class has been designed to provide a 60-Minute CrossFit class to gyms worldwide. Written daily with the coach in mind, we aim to provide a detailed timeline to optimize every minute of the hour.

At a glance, you can quickly notice that all programs in CompTrain (Individuals, Masters, Teens, and Class) share similarities in the “what”. The actual day to day programming. But the comparisons end there. The intentions of each is unique

Whereas our competitive training programs are geared towards performance in the Open, Regionals, and beyond, CompTrain Class is directed towards the true goal of CrossFit: To improve our quality of life outside the gym. It is not only an effort to lose body fat and maintain lean muscle-mass, but to be able to sustain the ability to play pickup basketball with our grandchildren someday.

The goal is improving fitness on a slow trajectory towards a distant horizon.

An underlying goal of CompTrain Class is to fight off the nursing home. As soon as we lose the ability to squat to a toilet or to pick up an object off the ground, we are forced to transition to the nursing home. It is our goal to be fitter in 10 years from now than we are today.

This requires thought-out programming. If we take an athlete for example who is not interested in excelling inside the Open, or competing in local competitions or throwdowns, we would offer that such an athlete doesn’t necessarily need to practice butterfly pull-ups — Or kipping handstand pushups. As a competitive athlete, these higher risk movements are part of the sport, and need to be trained to excel on the competitive stage. For an athlete who’s goal is to become a better skier or soccer player, or simply to maintain a higher quality of health, such movements can pose more risk than benefit.
