Rose City Barbell in Tigard, Oregon is a state of the art CrossFit training facility with experienced coaches to help you reach your fitness goals. CrossFit includes a variety of different movements from gymnastics to weightlifting, running, rowing, and cycling . It’s impossible for one person to be the best at everything. You will find some things you are better at than others. The beauty of CrossFit is that it is infinitely scalable from grandma to elite athlete anyone can do it. You don’t have to be in shape to start doing CrossFit. At Rose City Barbell we take the time to learn our athletes strengths and weaknesses in order to provide them with the correct coaching to help them progress. For example, if you can’t do a pull-up, you can do ring rows, use bands, or do jumping pull ups. The same goes for almost every movement. If you’re uncomfortable deadlifting a certain weight, we can scale down. Just show up and don’t quit!
At Rose City Barbell’s our coaches will demonstrate, instruct and queue athletes to move safely and more efficiently. This will help reduce injuries and give you the confidence you need to succeed. CrossFit is great at challenging you to do more than you think you can. Especially during the first few months, you can expect to be challenged. You’ll do movements you’ve never done before and new variations of challenging lifts. You’ll exert more energy than you’ve ever imagined you could. You may even feel a little overwhelmed. Don’t worry – our staff won’t expect you to know everything right away, but we are here to help you achieve your goals.
We know you’ll improve quicker than you think you can. Our WODs (Workout of the Day) is a combination of exercises, prescribed weights and times or reps allowed for each exercise. This will control the volume of work each athlete does during a week or even a month. You may feel out of shape, sore or lethargic, at first, most individuals do. Don’t get discouraged. You’ll soon get the hang of it and be amazed at what you can do. Our Coaches are here to help! If you don’t understand something or just aren’t getting it we take the time to provide you with everything you will need to succeed.
Variety is a key to cross fit workouts. The exercises and lifts are the same, but the order you do them in is not. Neither are the reps or the time allowed for the workout of the day (WOD). We believe that the change keeps people’s minds and bodies from getting bored and adapting to the same old stimulus.
Our coaches will make it clear to you that you are only competing against yourself. Don’t worry about what other people in the class are doing. CrossFit will push you mentally and physically.
